Total Locking Casters - Caster Model 9A - Plate Mount
Capacity up to 900 pounds per caster.
These Industrial Casters are used where the caster must be totally immobile when the caster brake is applied. Caster Model 9A has a unique brake which locks both the wheel and the swivel bearing at the same time. This "Total-Lock" brake insures that the swivel caster will not turn when the wheel is locked. This combination wheel brake and swivel lock is essential for safety in some applications - such as on worktables, machines and large mobil racks. The total-locking brake is desireable whenever a swivel caster must be totally immobile.

Features:
  • Swivel Construction - cold forged top plate and yoke base from 1/4" steel. Swivel has double ball bearing with hardened raceways.
  • Center Pin - 5/8" diameter, rivet or bolt and nut.
  • Legs - 1/4" thick.
  • Axle - 1/2'' diameter hollow bolt with lock nut.
  • Wheel Bearing - R= Roller Bearing, B= Ball Bearings, D= Delrin Bearings, P= Plain Bore
  • Grease Fittings - for swivel and wheel bearings.
  • Finish - external metal parts are zinc plated

We suggest that you do NOT drill the mounting holes to attach the casters until you receive them.
We do NOT include mounting Hardware.
You should never select on the basis of load capacity alone. There is no industry standard for load capacity ratings and they may not include a factor for abuse. Our capacity ratings are below what the casters are capable of carrying because most applications have less than perfect conditions. Please refer to the information shown at the bottom of this page.   • Combination Wheel Brake and Swivel Lock - This brake simultaneously locks the wheel and the swivel. One step on the activating pedal instantly locks the entire caster holding the equipment firmly in place. Releasing the pedal frees the swivel and wheel.

Deduct 1 lb. for weight of rigid caster. Add 1 lb. for weight of Swivel Caster with Total Lock Brake.
You should never select on the basis of load capacity alone. Capacity ratings do not take into account the effort required to manually move a load. Capacity ratings are based on manual operation under ideal conditions. If these casters are going to be moved by mechanically powered equipment, consult us for a reduced capacity rating based on your application. If a human being has to move the weight, select the largest practical wheel diameter.

If a caster failure occurs it is almost always because of misuse or abuse. It has been very rare that a product failed because of faulty material or poor workmanship. The following are examples of things that we do NOT want you to do:

1. Dragging the wheel sideways.
2. Shock or Impact caused by dropping the load instead of setting it down on the castered equipment.
3. Improper Installation such as:
  A. Rigid casters not installed parallel to one another.
  B. Swivel casters not installed parallel to the floor.
  C. Using less than 4 bolts to attach the mounting plate.
  D. Distortion of the swivel bearing when attaching the mounting plate due to welding improperly.
4. Exceeding the rated capacity of the wheel or caster.
5. Exceeding a rolling speed of 3 MPH.
6. The build up of heat caused by continuous operation causing tire separation.
